TEAM BEHIND VINEYARD WIND LAUNCHES VINEYARD OFFSHORE

VINEYARD OFFSHORE WILL FOCUS ON DEVELOPMENT OF PROJECTS IN NORTH AMERICA

(BOSTON, MA) – The team behind Vineyard Wind today announced the launch of Vineyard Offshore – a company focused exclusively on the development of the rapidly expanding North American offshore wind market.

Vineyard Offshore’s senior management team will be led by Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Lars Pedersen.  Mr. Pedersen was recently CEO of Vineyard Wind, the company that is building the first commercial scale offshore wind project in the US, which broke ground in November of 2021.  Additional members of the leadership team include Chief Development Officer Rachel Pachter, General Counsel Jennifer Simon Lento and Klaus Skoust Moeller, CEO of the Vineyard Wind 1 project.

Vineyard Offshore will lead the development of two lease areas in the Northeast. Lease area OCS-A 522, known as Vineyard Northeast, is located off the coast of Massachusetts. In addition, the recently acquired lease area OCS-A 544, known as Vineyard Mid-Atlantic, is located in the New York Bight. Both lease areas are owned by the CI-IV fund managed by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP). Combined with the 50% ownership of the Vineyard Wind 1 project, Vineyard Offshore has the potential to develop more than 4 gigawatts of clean, renewable and cost-effective energy on the East Coast of the United States, enough to power at least 2.4 million homes.

The company currently has offices in Boston and New Bedford and plans to open a new office dedicated to Vineyard Offshore in New York City.

“Vineyard Offshore is based on the team that gained valuable experience developing the nation’s first large-scale offshore wind project. We are in the fortunate position to build on a large and experienced team that is ready to make a difference in the US offshore wind market. Today we are also kicking off an ambitious staffing plan so we can deliver on our bold plans,” said Vineyard Offshore CEO Lars Pedersen.  “We will hold on to the key values that made the first project successful. This means maintaining an active local presence and frequent and meaningful stakeholder engagement – while also working to deliver projects that create American jobs and reduce carbon pollution.”

The newly minted Vineyard Offshore logo was designed to retain the original character of the Vineyard Wind logo, while also nodding toward the expansion of the company’s focus from a regional to a national scope.  The Vineyard Wind 1 project joint venture remains unchanged by this announcement, and as recently announced, Vineyard Wind 1 continues to be led by Klaus Skoust Moeller as CEO.
