Statement from CEO Alicia Barton on Signing of Massachusetts Economic Development and Climate Bills

(Boston) – Vineyard Offshore Chief Executive Officer Alicia Barton issued the following statement in response to Governor Maura Healey's signing of two pieces of climate-related legislation: An Act promoting a clean energy grid, advancing equity and protecting ratepayers and An Act relative to strengthening Massachusetts' economic leadership.

"Vineyard Offshore commends Governor Healey, Senate President Spilka, Speaker Mariano, and the leaders of the Massachusetts House and Senate for bringing two critical bills to fruition, advancing both climate action and economic development. These new laws extend the Commonwealth’s long record of climate leadership and recognize the importance of the growing climatetech industry. Key provisions across the two—30-yearcontracts for offshore wind power, capital investments in offshore wind port infrastructure, tax credits for climatetech investments—reflect a maturing offshore wind industry that will continue to deliver jobs and economic impact to local communities. Congratulations to all who worked to bring these important legislative accomplishments across the finish line."
